About the edition
The work "DEIM - corner to corner in Detroit01" was created in collaboration with the Berlin photographer Andreas Gehrke. Andreas Gehrke worked as an assistant to Kai Uwe Gundlach before going freelance in 1999 at the age of 25. His sparse but aura-laden photographs of buildings and landscapes have been shown in galleries ranging from Pierogi in Leipzig to PS1 in New York.
The work "DEIM - corner to corner in Detroit01" is also an analog photograph in medium format. Mirko Reisser developed his motif in illustration software as a vector file and then assembled it in Photoshop in Gehrke's Photo, using "disturbances" and "blurring" to match the analog photo. The result is a very special interplay between the architecture of the building and the typography. Building and letter merge and combine to form a common architecture and emerge from this in turn.
